you to try her delicious food.
Agriculture
Community Alliance with Family Farmers
Farmers and their allies (which should be everyone who eats) helping
build a renewed agriculture that is economically viable, environmentally
sound, and socially just.
The Saturday Farmers Market
This is an independent site about the Embarcadero Farmers Market, the
best place to get great organic produce in San Francisco. Look for the
"Certified Organic" signs by the farmer, not the "Certified
California Farmer" signs, to make sure you get the best stuff.
San Francisco League of Urban Gardeners
Not all ag-land is out of reach. SLUG is a great resource for super-local
food, ag-advice and social change.
Center for Urban Education about
Sustainable Agriculture
CUESA runs the Saturday Farmers Market, as well as Open Garden Day,
and other great programs that bridge the ag-urban gap. Check out their
list of Community Gardens
in SF if you're looking for a place to grow stuff.
Food First
The premier progressive food policy organization, based in Oakland.
People starve because of the international politics of food, not because
there isn't enough; Food First keeps bringing this point home.
Veganism
Vegan Action
North America's premier vegan advocacy group is located in the Bay Area.
Famous for their McVegan campaign and great graphic propaganda.
Vegetarianism
San Francisco Vegetarian Society
The discounts at local restaurants alone, not to mention the friendly
people, are worth the membership price.
Bicycling
The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition
The City's leading advocate for safer, saner transportation...great
membership discounts and jam-packed newsletter.
